I'm glad to see the property is finally up on TripAdvisor! It was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Darcy and Adolfo built their large, rustic stone farmhouse themselves, with their own home on the bottom and five guest rooms and four bathrooms on top. Their love for the land, organic farming, and their pride in their home are all a treat to experience. Our party occupied two rooms, both of which were very basic in furnishings, etc, but utterly soothing. The point here is to be out in nature as much as possible, and the stripped-down accommodations no TV or radio; I guess there is WiFi but we didn't use it help you relax into the quiet Umbrian countryside.
Every room has a little balcony -- kind of Romeo-and-Juliet style -- with a view over the genuinely breathtaking hills surrounding the property, as well as the proprietors' fields, barn, and animals. The shared bath was pleasant and no problem even though we were traveling with a toddler. It's cheery, clean, well-lit, and, when we were there, unused by anyone else. Breakfast is all organic and comes right from the farm, including jams in all kinds of wild varieties, fresh eggs, and Darcy's wonderful breads you can tell she's a baker! We had pizza one night out on the sheltered stone patio area from Darcy and Adolfo's own traditional brick pizza oven.
All the ingredients were top notch and delicious; we felt privileged to eat outside in such a beautiful area with other guests from around the world. Our little son enjoyed playing nearby in a sand pile with the proprietors' older son. On another evening we ate another tasty, hearty meal Darcy had whipped up around the enormous kitchen table.
We found her to be both vegetarian- and allergy-friendly, a huge plus. We went to bed happy! Darcy told us she was born and raised in California. She holds a doctorate in some part of plant biology, while Adolfo is native to the region and also a PhD in a similar, or maybe the same, field. Their intelligence and passion is evident in everything they do. I understand they also lead farm tours and other educational activities for large groups, which I'm sure would be fascinating and quite worthwhile.
His articulate, dexterous passagework, mellisonant phrases and judgment of weight of sound demonstrate his artistry. Linea Blu - Sicilia Parte 9. And I was moved and it was done with love. At various times, Thelonious Monk was reputedly either one of two polar opposite characters, able to discourse endlessly about his esoteric music, or a virtual mute who let his idiosyncratic jazz piano style speak for him. I don't see their website or email listed here so I'm going to go ahead and provide it: localitailpiano gmail. We hope to visit Italy again in a few years' time and definitely plan to stay with Darcy and Adolfo again. This stop was a perfect retreat for us as we were traveling between Rome and Florence, and really gave us a taste of the farming side of Italy, which is so essential to the country's history and economy.
The only downside I might mention is their long, scary driveway -- they may have had it paved in the meantime, but it was so rough my ace-driver husband actually had to accept help to get out when it was time to leave in our overloaded car! Fortunately Adolfo handled it like a pro and we were on our way with no problem. Try not to arrive after dark which we did -- going down was easier than coming back up! If you're considering going to or through this area at all, don't miss this farm!
It's a terrific experience. Date of stay: April Value.
